This is the full version of the latest DirectX software and includes all of the audio and video card drivers for most PCs. This is the recommended installation.

To install, create a temporary directory, download this file into it and unzip it. If you are using WinZip from Windows95 make sure you have the use folder names option set on. If you are using PKUNZIP from DOS, use the -d option. In this temporary directory you will then find a DIRECTX directory and inside that you will find a file called DXSETUP.EXE. Run that program to perform the install. You may then delete the whole temporary directory and it's contents.

Use this version of DirectX if you already have DirectX audio and video drivers on your PC and wish to upgrade to DirectX3 (not much difference from version 2 to be honest).

Use this version of DirectX if you already have DirectX audio and video drivers on your PC. Some people have experienced problems with DirectX3 and so you could use this version to see if it helps.
