If you have not played SubSpace before or you don't know if you have the Microsoft DirectX extensions loaded on your PC, then you must download and install one of the following files before you can play SubSpace. Please use the SUBCHECK application to determine if you need this download.

This is the full version of the latest DirectX software and includes all of the audio and video card drivers for most PCs. This is the recommended installation.
To install, create a temporary directory, download this file into it and unzip it. If you are using WinZip from Windows95 make sure you have the use folder names option set on. If you are using PKUNZIP from DOS, use the -d option. In this temporary directory you will then find a DIRECTX directory and inside that you will find a file called DXSETUP.EXE. Run that program to perform the install. You may then delete the whole temporary directory and it's contents.

Use this version of DirectX if you already have DirectX audio and video drivers on your PC and wish to upgrade to DirectX3 (not much difference from version 2 to be honest).
